Getting to know Ed

I graduated from the University of Houston in 1991 with honors. I spent many hours during the summer working on an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico to pay for college. I then went on to the University  of Tennessee's College of Law. I was on the Law Review and made the Dean's list multiple times. I won the award for Best Tax Theory Development Paper in law school in 1994. (This was a theory on how to improve our country's tax code.)  I began practicing law in 1994 and, since then, I have handled thousands of cases of all sorts, though I prefer criminal law, family law, and contract cases. I have argued in front of the Tennessee Supreme Court and have won criminal trials at both the federal and state levels. I have also argued several cases in Cincinnati, Ohio in the Federal Court of Appeals. I am happy to say that even after 22 years in practice, I pray that my list of achievements continues to grow. In 2004 I won the award for helping the most indigent people in East Tennessee. You can see it on my wall. I am very proud of this award as I feel that I helped many people.

I enjoy playing racquetball and golf. I watch as much football as I can at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels. Most of all, I love spending time with my children.

Welcoming Duncan Cave

A native of East Tennessee, Duncan is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with honors after having had obtained a full-athletic scholarship to play SEC football for the Commodores where Duncan was named Academic All-SEC multiple times. Duncan then went on to Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law and made the Dean's list multiple times.

In addition to analysis, research, and drafting original complex briefs and legal instruments, Duncan enjoys litigation across a broad cross-section of law as well as appellate work.  Duncan’s introduction into law practice began almost a decade ago where he went to trial on his first case the day after he swore into the bar.  As highlights in his career, Duncan became a Million Dollar Advocate after having won a $1,000,000.00 Dollar judgment in federal court as well as becoming a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College.  Duncan is a member of the Bar of the State of Tennessee - Bar of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee - Bar of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee - and Bar of the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.

In his spare time Duncan enjoys reading, attending church, lifting weights, sporting events, and outdoor recreation of the various sorts.

Duncan has proven to be an excellent addition to the EK team and we anticipate our continued success working together toward the best possible outcome for all of our clients
